Intense Cyclone Chido takes aim at Mozambique's north coast
Maputo Municipality Planning and Finance councilwoman Célia Cumbe’s death was not a suicide. According to a Radio Moçambique report on Tuesday, this is the preliminary result of the autopsy performed on the body of the deceased.
Célia Cumbe was found dead at her home in Matola, capital of the southern province of Maputo, on March 5.
Her body showed signs of burns caused by a fire that consumed part of the bed where she used to sleep.
Maputo’s chief public prosecutor, Evelina Gomane, said that investigations to clarify the case were ongoing.
“We are also working with her workplace, but not exclusively. We also have to look at the neighbourhood and the family, because we mustn’t focus on just one approach and leave some important element out,” she explained.
