Strengthening judicial cooperation tops Mozambican attorney general visit to Angola

Issues related to the strengthening of judicial cooperation between Angola and Mozambique dominated the meetings that the Attorney General of the Republic of Mozambique, Beatriz Buchili, held Monday, with her Angolan counterpart, João Maria de Sousa and the chiefs justice of the Constitutional, Supreme and Audit Courts.

Speaking to the press at the end of the meeting, the Mozambican magistrate said that there is a cooperation relation between the two countries started many years ago and the expectation of her visit to Angola is very large, since she will gather experience in various legal matters.

Beatriz Buchili, who holds a working visit to Angola on 6-13 March, stressed that it aims to strengthen cooperation in various areas, especially, the criminal investigation.

According to the interlocutor, “with the opening of borders is required greater preparation by the prosecution in the fight against organized and transnational crime, and so judicial cooperation is relevant in this area.”

She stressed that Mozambique currently faces several organized crimes like kidnappings, trafficking of influences, drugs and human beings, among others, stressing that in those activities can be involved Mozambican citizens and moving between Angola and Mozambique.

She further pointed that in judicial matters Angola has already made a major breakthrough with the creation of the legal framework and Mozambique plans in this context to gather experience in this area with a view to expeditious conduct of the various criminal cases.
