Mpumalanga police said on Monday there was still no sign of Mozambican Guhabali Samzi, who was allegedly kidnapped outside a residential estate.
Brig Leonard Hlathi said Samzi was last seen on October 15. He told TimesLIVE that the family had not received a ransom demand, and there were no leads on her whereabouts.
“It is alleged that on October 15 2019 about 2.30pm, the victim left her residential place, Elawini Lifestyle Estate in Nelspruit, and went to the Crossing Shopping Centre. She was supposed to fetch her child from school later, but did not,” Hlathi said.
“Her husband became worried after he tried to get hold of her with no luck. A case of a missing person was registered at Nelspruit police station as a result.”
Samzi’s car has been found.
“Her car was found at Cairn, in the outskirts of Nelspruit, with the driver’s window smashed. Her belongings were found inside the car,” Hlathi said.
Police learnt through eyewitnesses that Samzi was seen getting into a gold Chevrolet with the registration HCX586MP.
Police believe this man, whose image was captured on a CCTV camera, may be able to help them find Guhabali Samzi.
However, when police ran the plates, they found them to be false.
“On the day of her disappearance, the victim was wearing a blue striped blouse and dark blue pants. She has black hair and dark brown eyes,” said Hlathi.
Police have since started circulating a picture of a man they believe could help with the case.
“Police believe the man may be able to shed some light on the matter. An earnest appeal is made for the man to present himself to the investigating officer, or any police station,” said Hlathi.
He would not disclose where the image was captured.
“Anyone with information on his identity or whereabouts is urged to contact WO Mike Lusiba at 082 535 1839 or the SAPS Crime Stop number, 08600 10111,” said Hlathi.

53-year-old Guitabali Samgi was kidnapped outside Elawini Lifestyle Estate in Mbombela on Tuesday afternoon.
A local family is appealing to the kidnappers of a 53-year-old woman to make contact with them or the local police, and begging for the safe release of their beloved wife and mother, reports Lowvelder.
In a desperate attempt to create awareness that might save her life, some details have been released. The family said they had heard nothing since the incident, but were assuming that a ransom would be demanded.
We are asking the kidnappers to please make contact.”

It is thought that she was followed by the kidnappers and as she slowed down at the entrance road of the estate, they allegedly overtook her and braked hard. Samgi must have hit the back of their vehicle, as her number plate fell off at the scene.
Samgi’s driver side window was smashed by allegedly a hammer. They then presumably jumped in the car and raced off. Samgi’s vehicle was found abandoned on the N4 close to the Cairn turnoff.
“It was standing on the left side of the road, and someone must have called it in.”
All her personal belongings, such as her handbag, credit cards and all the family’s passports, were strewn across the car, but it looks as if nothing was taken.
Samgi has black hair and dark brown eyes. She was wearing a blue striped blouse and dark blue pants on the day of her kidnapping.
Anybody with information can contact the police on 013 759 1008.
Elawini expressed their deepest concern for the family, as they are a “deeply respected part of the Elawini family”.
Unfortunately, due to the distance from the gate to the road, the CCTV cameras were unable to pick up any footage.
