State employees and agents have not yet received their salary for April. Remuneration should have been transferred yesterday, but technical problems have meant that the new deadline is Tuesday, the 30th.
Salaries for state employees are usually paid between the 18th and 28th of the month.
In a press release rather short on detail, the Ministry of Economy and Finance says: “We inform the public that, for technical reasons, the processing of salaries of State Employees and Agents for the month of April 2019, who are normally paid between the 18th to 28th of each month, was subject to constraints”.
The document says the monies will be paid over tomorrow (Tuesday). “Work is ongoing at this time and throughout the weekend to regularise the situation so that by Tuesday, 30 April, 2019, salaries are available in the accounts of all Employees and Agents of the State.”
The ministry communique goes on to note that some state officials and agents already have the money in the accounts, the constraints affecting only those state institutions without financial autonomy.
