Mozambique: AzgoDialogar' forum brings together cultural agents in Maputo

From the 13th to the 16th of this month, Maputo hosts the thirteenth edition of “Meetings with History”.
This year, the International Colloquium on Social and Human Sciences, an annual initiative organized by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Eduardo Mondlane University and Camões – Portuguese Cultural Center in Maputo, focuses on the theme of Sport, Social Communication/Media and Society.
At a time when sport is becoming a major research topic around the world, this year’s colloquium aims to be a platform for theoretical and methodological reflection on the phenomenon, with its relationship with the press and communication in general one of the focal points for reflection and debate.
Sport and related activities continue to be very present in the media in Mozambique, making it essential to understand the media dynamics around its many aspects.
The first two days of the conference are devoted to the history of sport in Mozambique. The first session will have as guest speakers Cremildo Gonçalves from the School of Sciences and Sport of the Eduardo Mondlane University and Augusto Nascimento from the Center for Historical Studies of the University of Lisbon, moderated by Aurélio Rocha from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Eduardo Mondlane University.
Inácio Bernardo, from the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports at the Pedagogical University, moderates the second session with presentations by Nuno Domingos from the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Lisbon and Pedro Pessula, from the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports at the Pedagogical University.
The third day, March 15, covers topics that relate sport to society, with talks by Inácio Bernardo and Bonomar Macuácua of the School of Science and Sport at Eduardo Mondlane University, moderated by Nuno Domingos.
The Meetings with History cycle of this year concludes with reflections by Aurelio Rocha and journalists João de Sousa and Renato Caldeira focused on the media in sport and moderated by Augusto Nascimento.
Meetings with History aims to present results of projects developed by teachers, researchers and specialists on the subject addressed, promote the exchange of ideas and the scientific debate between Mozambican and Portuguese specialists and teachers, produce texts that can be incorporated into teaching curricula and university support programs.
The entry is free, subject to prior registration in Camões – Portuguese Cultural Center, Av. Julius Nyerere, 720, or with the secretary of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of Eduardo Mondlane University.
