The South African police are looking for a Mozambican citizen of Asian origin kidnapped in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga province, at the end of last week, it was revealed yesterday in Johannesburg by the president of the National Human Rights Commission of Mozambique, Custódio Duma, currently on a working visit to South Africa.
A Nelspruit police source said that many Mozambicans of Asian origin buy or rent houses in Nelspruit, adding that he suspected that the abduction was the work of a criminal syndicate specialising in kidnapping members of the Mozambican Asian business community for ransom.
A private company, ACS Security, has published photographs of the abducted man, Moshin Nautilus, and his wife and baby on social networks, along with contact details for anybody who might know of his whereabouts.
Nautilus apparently left his wife and their new-born son in a private health clinic in Nelspruit for breakfast at about 10 a.m. on Sunday morning, but never came back.
