Mozambique: Águas da Região Norte denies lack of chemicals for water treatment
A court in Barberton, Mpumalanga has postponed until May 27 the trial of two Mozambicans arrested with seven million dollars in cash in Lebombo, on the border between Mozambique and South Africa in December.
The postponement was requested by the prosecutor in order to pursue investigations into the case. The prosecution says the investigation of the matter is very delicate, involving as it does a large amount of money which raises suspicions of money laundering and organized crime.
Regional Court of Barberton Meanwhile, the court relaxed the probation conditions of the accused at the request of their new defense lawyers, who told reporters that they wanted more changes in bail conditions because their clients had only accepted these at the time of their arrest, them not having sufficient command of the English language, although there was an interpreter present.
Yesterday’s session was attended by representatives of the Consulate of Mozambique in Nelspruit and the Maputo Provincial Directorate of the Criminal Investigation Police.
The conditions for press coverage were also limited by court order, at the request of the accused.
