The court case for the extradition of a Mozambican businessman suspected of kidnapping, and detained around four weeks ago in South Africa at the request of Mozambique, has been postponed to February 15th, a source from the South African Police (SAPS) told Lusa on Friday.
On January 26th, Tembisa Magistrates’ Court, on the outskirts of Johannesburg, had postponed the bail hearing of Mozambican trucking entrepreneur Esmael Maulide Ramos Nangy to Thursday, February 2nd, preceding the investigation of his requested extradition for kidnapping.

Nangy, 50, was arrested on January 7, in a luxury condominium near Pretoria, the South African capital, under an arrest warrant and extradition request from the Government of Mozambique, SAPS told Lusa.
Police seized a licensed 9mm firearm, 14 rounds of ammunition, five mobile phones, several South African bank cards, as well as several Mozambican and South African SIM cards, SAPS said.
The Mozambican is accused by the Maputo authorities of leading a group behind kidnapping for ransom in Mozambique, and faces a prison term of more than 20 years, according to the arrest warrant.
