Mozambique: Mia Couto wins PEN/Nabokov Award for Achievement in International Literature

“Fragments of a Rainbow” is the title of a solo exhibition by artist Noel Langa which opened yesterday at the National Museum of Art.
“Fragments” is composed of thirty acrylic on canvas works, the Mozambican artist’s latest creations.
According to Noel Langa, the exhibition is a collection of works that arouses feelings and emotions in people, where they could even be dormant.
A Ministry of Culture and Tourism statement reports that, in a cultural context in which the appreciation of Mozambican roots has been a major concern, the art of Noel Langa, full of colours and meanings, has been of great importance in the rediscovery of what it means to be Mozambican.
Langa is considered one of Mozambique’s most important artists by critics, part of the “golden generation”, alongside figures such as Malangatana, Chissano, Samate, Shikane and Mankew.
He is a painter with a long career and many exhibitions both in and outside the country. His paintings are exhibited in private collections in Africa and beyond, especially Europe and America.
