The security situation in the north and centre of Cabo Delgado province is keeping schools in the areas where armed groups are operating closed, Secretary of State for the province Armindo Ngunga has said.
Speaking on private television channel STV, Ngunga expressed his concern, but without advancing the number of schools or affected.
The displacement of people in the region, the scene of attacks since 2017, to safer zones had contributed to the current scenario, Notícias reports.
Attacks in Cabo Delgado continue. In less than a week, insurgents attacked six communities in the Quissanga district, and on Wednesday afternoon attacked the village of Ntaure, about ten kilometres from the headquarters of the administrative post in Bilibiza, burning almost all the houses.
