Sixteen detained for illegal foreign exchange trading in Manica, Mozambique

The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) arrested sixteen individuals in Manica central province on Tuesday on charges of illegal currency exchange.
According to Radio Mozambique, the police seized 133,800 meticais, US$547.00, 16,300 South African rands and 45,920 Zambian kwachas.
All the individuals detained deny the charges and say the currency and currency exchange were related to other activities including freight and building materials sales.
Police also detained two citizens in Chimoio on suspicion of possessing counterfeit metical notes.
