Wednesday September 20 saw the launch of the 3rd round of metalworking, electrical repair and refrigeration system maintenance short courses for the underprivileged and unemployed youth in Beluluane.
The initiative is the result of a partnership between Beluluane Industrial Park companies and the Office of the Wife of the Governor of Maputo Province, in coordination with the Armando Emílio Guebuza Industrial and Computer Institute (IICAEG).
The event was attended by Boane District Administrator Teresa Mauaie, a representative of Regina Diomba, wife of Maputo Province Governor Raimundo Diomba, Elias Brito Naftal, Deputy Director of IICAEG, Adrian Frey, chairman of the board of Beluluane Industrial Park, and Neima Jossub, General Director of the Park.
The initiative reaffirms Beluluane Industrial Park stakeholders’ commitment to the well-being of the surrounding communities, the reduction of unemployment rates and the promotion of entrepreneurship.
The Beluluane Industrial Park has been investing in the training of young people in the community since 2015, after finding that the local labour force was not able to respond to the demand of the jobs of the companies in the Park.
Twenty-seven youngsters graduated in 2015, and 51 more graduated in Mechanical and Electricity Locksmithing courses in 2016. Most of the graduates were absorbed by the companies located in the Beluluane Industrial Park and a smaller number became self-employed.
Elias Brito Naftal congratulated the initiative that gave young people the opportunity to learn and prepare for the job market. District Administrator Teresa Mauaie thanked the Beluluane Industrial Park for being a strategic partner in the search for solutions to the problems in a manner which reflects the government’s Five Year Plan. In turn, Regina Diomba’s representative called on the trainees to find a space for reflection and ambition in order to broaden their outlook and skills. The general appeal of the representative of the Beluluane Industrial Park was that the youngsters, and especially the females among them, should not give up their training before their end.
After completing the courses, the trainees will take up professional internships with companies located in the Beluluane Industrial Park and will be mentored until they find a place in the job market.
