Seven Mozambican service providers recently obtained the right to use the ‘Mozambican Pride’ seal from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC).
Continental Cleaners, Delcom Consultoria e Serviços, Liasse e Serviços, Sociedade Unipessoal, Nweba, Perfect Clean, Perfect Security and Uassea joined the 212 companies already certified, bringing the total in the city of Maputo to 219, with 462 nationally.
Eligibility includes meeting requirements such as the significant use of national resources in production processes, compliance with the applicable legislation in the country and the adoption of a quality culture through the implementation of quality management systems, Minister of Industry and Commerce Carlos Mesquita noted at the accreditation ceremony at the National Institute for Standardisation and Quality (INNOQ) premises in Maputo on Friday (November 20).
Minister Mesquita said that the awarding this seal constitutes the government’s recognition of these companies in the perspective of the valorisation of national products and services and, equally, of their commitment to the process of continuous improvement of business practices, since eligibility must be upheld throughout the five-year period of validity of the certification.
The Mozambican economy, the minister emphasised, has some discontinuous value chains in the sense that raw materials are exported raw, with the country importing intermediate and finished components and products made using the raw materials exported.
Speaking on behalf of the seven certified companies, Eugênia Langa, general director of the company Nweba, said that the recognition resulted from the combined efforts of stakeholders who worked daily to build a sustainable base, aiming to boost the country’s economy through business growth.
Langa mentioned the challenges and the responsibility that the attribution of the seal represents in the business world and in the economy in general.
“We are all aware that the year 2020 was atypical. Our country and the world were plagued by the Covid-19 pandemic, which required from many of us redoubled efforts, resilience and a new way of being in the domestic market. However, there is a glimmer of hope when we know that we can count on the support of the government in initiatives like these,” she said.
