Mozambique: Laudato Si’ initiative inspires ecumenical gathering for peace and the environment

Provincial Executive Council of Cabo Delgado has awarded a full higher education scholarship to 17-year-old Isaías Tiago, who took third place in the 2022 Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) Mathematics Olympiad. The gesture aims to encourage young people and teenagers to dedicate themselves to the study of mathematics.
The Provincial Executive Council of Cabo Delgado on Friday January 6, 2023, awarded a certificate of recognition to student Isaias Lázaro Ernesto Tiago, for taking third place in the international phase in the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) Mathematics Olympiads.
Certificate delivery was undertaken by Governor Valige Tauabo, who in his speech challenged the education sector to make use of the student’s example for the benefit of other students.
“As the Provincial Executive Council, we also want to recognize the preponderant role of parents and guardians, the focal points of the Natural Sciences and Mathematics Olympiads in the Provincial Secondary Schools, who have worked hard to expand knowledge with a greater focus on student mathematics lovers,” Governor Tauabo said.
The governor took the opportunity to appeal to all education stakeholders to do their utmost to increase the quality of education and identify potential candidates to represent Cabo Delgado in the National and International Olympics.
Governor Tauabo announced that Isaias wold benefit from a full scholarship for a degree-level course at a university of his choosing.
