The South African oil company Sasol a few days ago laid the first stone for the construction of the resettlement village for the families impacted by the construction of gas pipelines in the Joaquim Marra neighbourhood, Mangungumete.
The stone-laying ceremony, for construction within the framework of the implementation of the PSA Project (Petroleum Sharing Agreement), was directed by the district administrator, Dulce Canhemba.
The resettlement project foresees the construction of 45 conventional houses for families affected by the pipelines destined to take the gas from various wells to the processing plant in Temane.
In addition to the housing, the resettlement village project foresees the requalification of the Joaquim Marra Primary School, currently operating in precarious classrooms and under trees, which will have 12 conventional classrooms, an administrative block, toilets, two sports facilities, a water supply system, and eight houses for teachers.
