Health officials in Inhambane are tightening their grip in the fight against Covid-19, with more people suspected of being infected with the coronavirus tested this week.
Six samples were collected on Monday, mostly from Mozambicans working in neighbouring South Africa who returned home when the lockdown in place there came into force.
The Inhambane chief physician told ‘O Pais’ that the job of tracing migrant workers was ongoing, and that the number of people subjected to mandatory home quarantine across the province had increased from 253 to 337, with 90% of these having recently returned from South Africa.
Health officials are working with communities and volunteers from various organisations to identify and monitor everyone who should be subject to the mandatory quarantine measures.
