Mozambican duo Denise Parruque and Maria Machava have qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, winning the last Class 470 regatta of the qualifying tournament off the island of Luanda in Angola on Saturday.
Their achievement puts the African champions on course to represent the continent in the Olympics in Japan, from July 24 to August 9 this year.
Parruque and Machava will join another Mozambican sailor, Deyse Nhaquile, who was the first Mozambican athlete to qualify for the Olympic Games, winning the African sailing championship in the 420 Radial Laser class in a race in Algiers, Algeria, last October.
