The government yesterday approved the creation of the National Blood Service (SENASA) in order to meet the country’s transfusion needs and, above all, promote safe blood policy.
According to Deputy Minister of Health Mouzinho Saide, SENASA will establish a semi-centralized service mobilizing technological and human resources to improve blood quality, testing, processing and storage.
The new service comes at a time where action is needed to prevent the transmission of diseases such as HIV/Aids and tuberculosis. According to Saide, the service will also simplify distribution logistics, ensure the proper maintenance of laboratory equipment and set up a technical training component.
In the same parliamentary session, the government adopted improved environmental impact assessment regulations, designed to ensure that the environment is safeguarded during the implementation and operation of development projects, and approved a decree establishing an electronic edition of the Official Gazette.
Also approved was a resolution ratifying the agreement on visa-free travel for diplomats between Mozambique and Korea signed on 5 November of this year.
