Police forces in Mozambique and South Africa intend to improve collaboration to catch criminals hiding in each other’s country, the government of Mozambique said on Thursday.
Teams from the internal affairs ministries of both countries are going to define a “work strategy” to “identify, locate and arrest fugitives and return them to face justice for their crimes”, the Notícia newspaper said today.
The collaboration comes after a meeting in Maputo last week between the Mozambican internal affairs minister, Basílio Monteiro, and South Africa’s police minister, Bheki Cele.
Mozambique and South Africa share a long border and are important trade and economic partners.
