Robberies masterminded by maximum security prisoner

A gang of robbers arrested by police in Maputo province for a theft in Matola’s Liberdade neighbourhood was allegedly headed by an inmate who is currently serving sentence in the Maputo’s maximum security prison.
The prisoner, whose identity and age were not disclosed by the police, is a relative of one of those detained.
The accused, who include a man who claims to be a weapon repairer, have vied in asserting their own innocence and accusing each other, with the owner of the firearm used in the assault now detained at the same institution as the supposed mastermind.
According to the detainees, the gun found in their possession was kept in the house of the aforementioned individual’s brother-in-law.
