On Friday morning, the Traffic Police were out on the roads of Maputo briefing drivers of “My Love” open passengers vans on road safety matters.
The action also covered users, who were advised not to hang onto already-full vans on the pretext of being late.
Among the roads selected for the awareness campaign was Joaquim Chissano Avenue, one of the main access routes into the city from Machava. Traffic police officers and technicians from the National Land Transport Institute took up positions in the Vulcano district.
Without issuing fines, the authorities advised drivers to be more careful, comply with vehicle capacity restrictions and increase the height of van side-walls.
