Two communities in Maúa district, Niassa province, are cut off from district headquarters after rain and erosion destroyed roads.
Roads from the headquarters village to the communities of Paia and Cuvir are heavily corrugated and vulnerable to silting.
Maúa district administrator Ilda Macome said that transit via other roads, such as Maúa-Namarica, Keta-Vatiua and Maua-Tapir, was also constrained by silting and deep cuts on the platforms.
Ilda Macome told the governor of Niassa, who visited the district of Maua to monitor the agrarian campaign and Covid-19 preventive measures, that speedy intervention was required to restore communications.
Governor of Niassa Judite Massengele admitted that the current state of some roads in Niassa was of concern.
This Thursday, in the final stage of her visit to the districts, Governor Massengele was in Cuamba district, evaluating Covid-19 preventive measures, the progress of the agricultural campaign and the state of the roads.
