The Mozambican National Resistance (Renamo) will only set up checkpoints on roads in central Mozambique in case the alleged persecution of its members continues, the spokesman of the largest opposition party told Lusa yesterday.
“If the persecution of our members prevails, we will take control of national roads,” told Lusa Antonio Muchanga, admitting that the measure may not be taken if the alleged persecution of its members stops.
On Monday, the head of the mobilization of the largest opposition party in Sofala, Horacio Calavete announced that former generals and military officers from Renamo will install checkpoints on the main roads in central Mozambique, to stop kidnappings and executions of its elements.
