Renamo in Matola began selecting members to staff tables in the local elections on October 10 on Monday. About 800 members will serve as “Partridge Scouts” in the forthcoming ballot.
António Muchanga, Renamo head of list in Matola, says this was the beginning of a strategy to oversee voting in the upcoming elections. “We want to make sure that the votes cast correspond to the candidates selected by the people. So before people go to STAE, we want to check they are in tip-top condition,” Muchanga said.
Muchanga said the same exercise would happen in the next days in the other Matola administrative posts.
In total, Renamo will train 900 people for STAE, which corresponds to 100 percent of the requirement (800 persons) plus 10 percent (100 individuals) expected to start training in the next few days.
Renamo has already submitted nominations to the National Elections Commission for all 53 municipalities in the country.
