Mozambique Elections: NGO denounces alleged bribe paid to Podemos party leader - Watch
About thirty men armed Renamo blocked traffic on the Cuamba-Marrupa road in Niassa province on Sunday.
Carlos Lagoas, a coach driver, told Radio Mozambique that Renamo men searched his coach for defence and security forces members.
“I saw two armed men in front of me at a bend. They pointed a gun at me – I had to stop. They told me to get out of the car and asked me if I had military or police in the car. I said no, I only had civilians. They told me to open the doors for people to get out and confirmed that I had no police or military. They said they were looking for members of the police and Rapid Intervention Force, and that they had already closed the road. They forced us to go back and said that no traffic would pass. There were more than thirty of them.”
Maúa administrator João Maguimbe confirmed the incident and said that the police had been sent a contingent to the scene.
