Mozambique: Train-the-Trainers Programme puts in practice counter-terrorism operations
A priest whose identity has not been revealed by the police in Manica is in custody on suspicion of sexually abusing a child after luring her to his home.
The offence took place in Sussundenga district, when the girl went to the defendant’s house to deliver gifts offered by believers during a service. Manica police spokesman Leonardo Colher told the press that the victim was also a member of the church run by the alleged rapist.
The priest planned the event during mass, when he asked the girl’s aunt to send her to his house with the offerings. The lady did not suspect anything untoward and agreed.
Once there, the girl was held captive and allegedly raped by the individual. Despite the evidence against him, the accused maintains his innocence and say he is the victim of defamation.
