Fitch lowers Mozambique's rating to CCC and worsens economic forecasts

The rate of the National Reconstruction Tax for 2025 has been revised upwards in 12 districts of five provinces of Mozambique, while remaining the same in the other 142 districts.
The largest increases in this tax, which contributes the least to State Revenue and was created in 1978 to finance the reconstruction of Mozambique during the civil war and to repair damage caused by natural disasters, were recorded in Boane and Moamba districts, Maputo province.
The other increases occurred in Gaza province (Limpopo district), Sofala province (Chibabava district), Manica province (Machaze and Guro districts) and in Tete province (Chifunde and Marávia districts).
