More than seven months after the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in Mozambique, the country has registered the loss of its first doctor to the new coronavirus.
This Wednesday (21), the Ministry of Health announced “the death of a patient infected by the new coronavirus in the city of Maputo. This is a 64-year-old man and Mozambican national, who died after the worsening of his clinical condition on 10/10/2020”.
@Verdade has learned that the 79th victim of SARS-Cov-2 in Mozambique was Dr Antóno Guilherme Mujovo, a surgeon, university professor and adviser to the Minister of Health, Armindo Tiago.
It was not possible to ascertain how Dr António Mujovo contracted the virus, nor whether had he been in contact with Minister Armindo Tiago, who tested positive on the 13th of this month.
At least 574 health professionals have been infected with Covid-19 in the pandemic’s seven-month duration in the country.
