Mozambique: Human trafficking ring dismantled, six victims rescued in Maputo

The PRM provincial Command in Maputo has identified the officers of the sixth Infulene police station (Matola) responsible for torturing three minors, O País reports, noting that they are now subject to disciplinary and criminal proceedings.
The PRM provincial command in Maputo has issued a statement reacting to the torture of three minors suspected of stealing a dog, confirming that the minors were tortured and indicating what measures had been taken.
“The provincial command strongly condemns the attitude of its agents, who have been identified and are now subjected to disciplinary and criminal proceedings,” the communique reveals.

According to lawyers Rodrigo Rocha and Paulino Cossa, the agents’ actions were illegal and a breach of the Constitution of the Republic of Mozambique.
In the same document, the PRM refers its commitment to continuing administrative, disciplinary and other measures to prevent this type of situation from recurring.
