The President of the Republic of Mozambique, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, together with the visiting President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, today inaugurated the landmark Montebelo Milibangalala Bay Resort development in Maputo National Park.
Resulting from a partnership between the Montebelo Hotels & Resorts chain, a Grupo Visabeira company, and the Mozambican state, the Montebelo Milibangalala Bay Resort aims to be a reference not only for the tourist scene in Mozambique, but for the whole of Southern Africa.
During the opening ceremony, Fernando Daniel Nunes, director of Grupo Visabeira – a holding company with a multinational presence and a turnover of US$1.4 billion in 2021 – highlighted the economic importance of the new resort in the Montebelo Hotels & Resorts portfolio. Not only for the direct investment of US$10 million dollars, but also to leverage the tourism sector in Mozambique and capitalise on its direct and indirect benefits for the country.
“The tourism sector, in addition to adding value to local attributes – natural, cultural and social – promotes the generation of employment and income distribution, as well as the creation of new businesses and the increase in the production of goods and services, stimulating entrepreneurship and the development of communities. Now, with the Montebelo Milibangalala Bay Resort, an investment with multiplier effects, Mozambique is better prepared for the resumption of tourist activity expected this year,” Nunes declared.
In its first phase, Montebelo Milibangalala has available 20 villas of types T0 to T1, T2 and T2+2, served by a restaurant serving Mozambican and international cuisine, a bar, a lounge, a swimming pool and meeting facilities. The excellent offering has, as Fernando Daniel Nunes highlighted, “the Clean & Safe Seal certification, awarded by INATUR, which certifies compliance with health protocols, validated by the competent authorities, in the context of the fight against Covid 19”.
The resort’s comprehensive project includes three lines of accommodation: the Earth, Sea and Sky paths, each representing the habitats of the three large groups of animals that inhabit the 104,000 hectares of Maputo National Park.
Taking advantage of its privileged location, the Montebelo Milibangalala Bay Resort intends to offer tourists, through various programs, close contact with the surrounding habitat and its primordial elements: the fertile land and fauna and flora of Africa and the warm and pristine beaches of the Indian Ocean, with Milibangalala beach at their feet.
