Mozambique Elections: Shots fired as police disperse protesters in Maputo neighbourhood

President Nyusi, on his working visit to Nampula province, today presides over the last day of military courses at the Samora Moisés Machel Military Academy in the city of Nampula.
On Saturday, President Nyusi will inaugurate the Nacala Health Sciences Institute in Nacala district and conduct the launch ceremony of the Nampula and Zambézia Rural Roads Integrated Development Project.
Financed by the Government of Mozambique and the World Bank and budgeted at US$185 million, the project will develop rural roads in the two provinces to facilitate the flow and commercialisation of agricultural surpluses.
This project also includes the rehabilitation of the Quelimane-Nicoadala-Namacurra road in Zambézia province, a rural transport services pilot project, institutional capacity building and contingency and emergency response mechanism development.
Also on Saturday, the president will inaugurate a desalination water supply system for the Memba District Hospital and the Memba-Sede administrative post.
President Nyusi is accompanied on his visit by the Minister of Defence Atanasio Mtumuke, Minister of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources João Machatine, Minister of Health Nazira Abdula and staff of the presidency and other state institutions.
