The President of the Republic, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, is today on a working visit to the province of Gaza, where he will this morning inaugurate the Macarretane Dam Dissipation Basin in Chókwè district.
At a cost of around US$8 million, financed by the government with help from the World Bank, this work constitutes the last phase of a process that started in 2013 with the rehabilitation of other vital components reinforcing the security of water infrastructure and increasing the availability of irrigation in the Limpopo basin.
Approximately 12,000 agricultural producers will have water for their activities even in times of drought, allowing an increase in production levels.
Due to its importance, the government will continue to invest in water infrastructure, as for example with the Mapai Dam, also in Gaza.
