The Mozambican President, Filipe Nyusi, is due to make a working visit to the United States from June 13 to 15 to meet with US business people and investors, the Confederation of Mozambican Economic Associations (CTA) said today.
According to a press release from CTA, the main Mozambican employers’ federation, Filipe Nyusi will meet with entrepreneurs and investors from the energy and agribusiness sectors.
“One particular feature of this mission is that [the head of state] will hold business meetings which are multilateral, so that a number of African countries, such as Ghana, Nigeria and Morocco, will attend,” the statement said.
The meetings will be part of the 11th Business Biennial, which will also include the participation of the US Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson.
In the statement, the CTA invites Mozambican business people linked to agriculture, agribusiness and energy to join the entourage that will accompany Filipe Nyusi to the United States.
The US has a strong presence in the natural gas sector in Mozambique through the companies Anadarko, which leads the consortium that owns Area 2 in the Rovuma Basin in northern Mozambique and Exxon Mobil, which bought a stake in Italy’s ENI Area 4, in the same region.
