Mozambique: Mondlane’s Anamola party registers over 64,000 members in ten days
President Filipe Nyusi yesterday met the outgoing High Commissioner of the Republic of Botswana, Olebile Marakadu, and the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates, Asim Ali Ailaj Mohammed Nasser Aklrahmah, who bade farewell, both having finished their missions in the country.
Before leaving, the Botswana high commissioner told reporters that the status of bilateral relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, which had been cemented with visits at the highest level, had been reviewed. As a result, Botswana companies were examining business prospects, and many had already made the decision to invest in Mozambique.
High Commissioner Marakadu also congratulated the Mozambican head of state on his commitment to the search for peace.
The outgoing ambassador of the United Arab Emirates said that bilateral cooperation issues were addressed at the meeting, focusing on his country’s investments in Mozambique.
Also addressed were investments in the Port of Maputo, talks aimed at starting operations at the Port of Nacala, and direct daily flights from the United Arab Emirates to Maputo.
Marakadu said that his country’s investment in Mozambique to date were close to US$2 billion, and noted that an empowerment project for 4,000 girls was being developed in the central zone of the country.
