President Nyusi opens annual meeting of the SADC Committee for Cooperation, Politics, Defence and Security

President Filipe Nyusi of Mozambique presides in Maputo today over the opening of the Eighteenth Annual Meeting of the Ministerial Committee of the SADC Organ for Cooperation, Politics, Defence and Security.
The meeting, which brings together the SADC ministers of defence and security, will assess the progress made since the last meeting in 2015.
Conflict resolution and prevention, the consolidation and practice of democracy and cooperation between the defence and security forces are among the topics that will be discussed.
The day-long meeting take’s place under the motto “Contributing to Peace, Stability and Security in the SADC Region”.
