President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, is paying a working visit to Zambezia province this Friday.
A statement from the presidency reveals that the head of state first visited Molumbo district to inaugurate a bank branch, as part of his “One District, One Bank” initiative, which aims to accelerate the spread of the banking system into rural areas.
During his visit to Zambézia province, the president is accompanied by Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Celso Correia.
Molumbo, a district created in 2013 with the establishment of an administrative post there, is a potential producer of tobacco and grain, and was previously part of the Milange district.
The government foresees all Mozambican districts having banking institutions by 2019, and that over four million people will by then be accessing formal financial services.
