The president of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, arrived at Savane administrative post in Dondo district, Sofala province, at around 12:00 noon today, where he will observe the disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration of Renamo armed men which began yesterday.
Renamo’s leader Ossufo Momade has been at the site since this morning, monitoring the demobilisation of the 18 more Renamo former guerrillas scheduled to be processed today.
A group of 20 Renamo soldiers returned to civilian life yesterday, a portion of the 304 former Renamo men expected to be covered by the DDR process in the province.
Representing the government is Colonel Gabriel Macha, member of the joint technical group for DDR, and Colonel Viriato Tamele, of the joint technical group for monitoring and verification.
