President Nyusi arrived in Kigali, Rwanda, for the African Union conference yesterday, and in the evening attended a dinner hosted by his Rwandan counterpart, Paul Kagame, host of the conference and current president of the African Union.
The heads of state and government of the fifty-five African Union member countries will witness the launch in Kigali, Rwanda, of the African Continental Free Trade Area, an initiative that marks an important step in the economic integration on the continent and is part of a package of reforms aimed at the economic and financial independence of the African Union.
President Nyusi, along with twenty-six other heads of state and government, will witness the agreement marking the formal launch of an initiative which has as its goal greater African integration and unity.

The African Continental Free Trade Area is a flagship of the Agenda 2063, the African Union’s long-term vision for an integrated Africa, and is estimated to have the potential to increase internal trade in Africa by 53 percent by eliminating import duties and non-tariff barriers.
