President Filipe Nyusi has already arrived in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsun province, on his five-day state visit to the People’s Republic of China.

President Nyusi’s visit to China comes at the invitation of the Chinese president, Xi Jinping, and is intended to strengthen existing ties of friendship, cooperation and solidarity between the peoples and governments of the two countries.

During his visit, President Nyusi will hold official talks with his counterpart and meetings with the president of the National Assembly, the prime minister and businesspeople, and will participate in the opening of the World Conference on Tourism.

This morning President Nyusi will address the Mozambique-China Business Forum and visit the Military Academy of Nanjing, and this afternoon, he will visit the Jiangning City Urban Exhibition Hall in Nanjing, with an early-evening meeting with the governor of Jiangsu province followed by a dinner and meeting with Mozambican students in Nanjing.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, the president, who is accompanied by his wife, Isaura Nyusi, will travel to Beijing, China’s capital, where he will be received by his counterpart Xi Jinping in the People’s Palace. Their meeting will be followed by official talks between the two delegations, the signing of some cooperation agreements and a state banquet.

On Thursday, the president will meet the Chinese prime minister at the opening ceremony of the International Conference on the Development of Tourism. President Nyusi will also visit the headquarters of the China National Oil Company and participate in the second China-Mozambique Business Forum.

In the afternoon, the president will lay a wreath Tiananmen Square in honour of the heroes of the Chinese people, and hold courtesy meetings with executives of public companies. In the early evening, he will meet the Mozambican community in Beijing.

On Friday, the president and his entourage depart by train for the capital of Shandong province, where the president will visit the Jinan Rolling Stock Company and visit a vocational school. In the afternoon, he will hold a meeting with the provincial governor of Shandong province and on Saturday, the last day of his visit, will witness a demonstration of modern agriculture in Zhangqiu and visit the Jin Rong Foodstuff Co. factory.

President Filipe Nyusi is accompanied on his visit by the ministers of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Oldemiro Baloi, Industry and Commerce, Ernesto Max Tonela, Public Works, Housing and Water Resources, Carlos Bonete Martinho, Culture and Tourism, Silva Dunduro, deputy ministers of Agriculture and Food Security, Luisa Meque, Economy and Finance, Maria Isaltina Lucas, as well as members of parliament, staff of the presidency and other state institutions.
