President Nyusi congratulates Malawian counterpart on election victory

The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, has sent a message of congratulations to his counterpart in the Republic of Malawi, Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, on his victory in the re-run of the presidential elections held on 23 June.
In the message, the Mozambican head of state sends his warmest congratulations on behalf of the people and government of the Republic of Mozambique.
“The election of Your Excellency to the highest office of President of the Republic of Malawi is an unmistakable testimony to the confidence that the People of the Republic of Malawi place in Your Excellency to lead them towards achieving their aspirations for peace, progress and well-being. I believe that under your leadership, Malawi will play a pivotal role in galvanising the entire SADC towards deeper integration,” President Nyusi writes.
The Mozambican head of state reiterates his willingness to work closely with his counterpart to continue to strengthen and consolidate the excellent relations of friendship, cooperation and solidarity between Mozambique and Malawi, for the progress and well-being of both countries and peoples.
