Mozambique: Mondlane supports IL's vote against Portuguese president's visit

His Excellency President Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi has embarked on a State Visit to Mozambique, from July 10th to 12th, 2024, at the invitation of His Excellency Mr. Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, President of the Republic of Mozambique.
The President’s visit follows the recently concluded 8th Session of the Botswana-Mozambique Joint Permanent Commission for Cooperation (JPCC), held in Maputo from July 6th to 8th, 2024. Following the discussions and outcomes of the 8th JPCC session, President Masisi and President Nyusi are expected to oversee the signing of Memoranda of Understanding and Agreements on Cooperation in the areas of road infrastructure, agriculture, livestock, food security, as well as security and public order.
During the State Visit, His Excellency the President will hold Official Talks with his Mozambican counterpart, participate in a ceremony at the Heroes Monument where the President will lay a wreath of flowers, and visit the Cahora Bassa Hydro Plant.
The President will also take part in a Tripartite Summit involving the Presidents of Botswana, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe where the three Heads of State will discuss the Techobanine Port Project and the Limpopo Railway Line.
These projects entail constructing a deep-water port and a railway line to connect the three countries.
President Masisi’s delegation comprises the Honourable Ministers of Foreign Affairs; Defence and Security; Transport and Public Works; Agriculture; Minerals and Energy; Trade and Industry; Communications, Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development and Senior Government Officials.

His Excellency the President and his delegation will return to Gaborone on July 12th, 2024
