President Nyusi landed this morning in the village headquarters of Marromeu district in the course of his working visit to Sofala province. The president will visit the Stevea sugar project nursery before departing for Nensa, where he will visit an Agricultural Association of Pastures farm and hold a rally.
The president will then visit the administrative station of Murraça in Caia district where he will visit the Centre for Research and Transfer of Agricultural Technologies and meet the general public before holding discussions with women farmers groups, merchants and credit scheme operators.
Before returning to the city of Beira, President Nyusi will a stop in Nhamatanda, where he will inaugurate the Oswaldo Tazama Middle School of Sergeants of Police, an educational institution that trains staff to address public safety needs.
The school has three 25-seater class rooms, three administrative units, a medical center, a kitchen, a dining room, eight male and female dormitories and a training camp and parade ground.
Nhamatanda district, one of the most populous in Sofala, is potentially rich in the production of sesame, corn, beans and sorghum, and is considered the granary of the province. It has however been recording low production levels recently as a result of political instability and drought.
Tomorrow, the head of state will open the ninth National Culture Festival in the provincial capital.
