The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, this Friday morning (04-08)in Ninga, Mueda district, inaugurated the new Roma-Negomano section of the road to the Unity Bridge connecting Mozambique and Tanzania.
Filipe Nyusi has been visiting the province of Cabo Delgado since yesterday, when he inaugurated a bank branch in the town of Palma, which had been vandalised by terrorists.
The Mozambican head of state said on the occasion that the village of Palma had made great progress towards social stability, and reiterated his offer of pardon for criminals who voluntarily abandon the practice of terrorism.
At about 70 kilometres long and budgeted at just over US$100 million, financed jointly by the government and the African Development Bank (AfDB), the new road is expected to boost the socio-economic life of Cabo Delgado and reduce the cost of transport between Mozambique and Tanzania.
Still in Palma district, President Nyusi is today to lay the first stone for the construction of two sections of the Mueda-Roma road.
