Mozambique: Kenmare Resources advances upgrades to wet concentrator plant

Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi inaugurated a granite processing plant operated by China’s Helin Mining Company. Speaking during the ceremony on Sunday, Nyusi said the factory is expected to have a significant economic impact on in Manica province, including creation of several jobs.
“This initiative is an example of how the private sector can contribute to economic development,” Nyusi said.
According to Nyusi, the initiative responds exactly to the Government’s program on the sustainable exploitation of natural resources to boost the economy and development.
According to radio Mozambique, the factory is located in Manica provincial capital Chimoio and was built at the cost of US$30 million.
The facility has capacity to produce 10,000 cubic meters of granite blocks per year. There are also plans to build a marble processing plant at the site.
Helin Mining Co. chairman Wu Xie En said he hoped that the facility would contribute to the development of Mozambique and strengthen the relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
