The President of the Republic of Mozambique Filipe Nyusi left to Cape Verde this morning, to attend the 12th Conference of Heads of State and Government of the CPLP in Santa Maria, island of Sal. The CPLP Summit takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday and will be held under the theme “People, Culture and Oceans”.
At the summit, the Federative Republic of Brazil will hand over the CPLP Presidency to the Republic of Cape Verde. Brazil took over the presidency of the organisation in 2016.
Several parallel meetings are scheduled during the Summit, within the framework of the Food and Nutrition Security Council of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries.
During this visit, President Nyusi will be accompanied by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, José Pacheco; of the Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries, Agostinho Mondlane; Ambassador of Mozambique to Portugal and Permanent Representative to the CPLP, Joaquim Bul; members of staff of the Presidency of the Republic and other State institutions.
After the CPLP summit, President Nyusi makes a state visit to the Republic of Rwanda from 19 to 21 this month.
