Mozambique: President Chapo expected in Tanzania for three-day state visit

President Filipe Nyusi yesterday sent a message of condolences to the Chinese people following the death of more than 100 people in a landslide on 24 June in Ya’an City, Shishuan Province.
“It was with deep sorrow and dismay that I learned about the landslide in the town of Ya’an, in Shishuan Province, causing the loss of more than a hundred human lives, with thousands of injured and the destruction of economic and social infrastructure,” the president’s statement reads.
“On behalf of the people and Government of Mozambique, and in my own name, I would like to convey our expressions of sorrow and solidarity to Your Excellency and through you, to the friendly people and Government of the People’s Republic of China,” the document adds.
Nyusi expresses his deep consternation and offers his comfort to families that have lost loved ones, and wishes the injured a quick recovery.
