The President of the Republic visited Maputo Central Hospital, the largest in the country, yesterday, inspecting various departments and talking to patients and staff.
President Nyusi came across a patient who had been beaten, and who told him did not know the reason why. The case is in the hands of the police, and the president said he hoped it would soon be solved, wishing other patients good luck too.
The visit culminated in a conversation with HCM staff, the head of state thanking them for their efforts maintaining Mozambicans’ health. The president said their work had contributed to the increase in average life expectancy from 50 to 54 years of age in the period 2007 to 2017.
