President announces reinforcement of military security cordon in the north of Cabo Delgado – RM

President Filipe Nyusi has announced the reinforcement of a military security cordon in the north of Cabo Delgado to facilitate the progress of natural gas exploration projects in the Rovuma Basin, the first phase of which began with the inauguration on Wednesday of the Coral Sul FNLG development.

Filipe Nyusi said that this aims to ensure the country’s prospects with regard to gas production.

“We formed a defensive cordon by increasing the capacity of the Defence and Security Forces, and with the support of friendly forces from Rwanda and SADC in areas adjacent to Palma district,” the president said. “At this moment, and progressively, the situation is returning to normality. The population is returning and local authorities are being re-established. The gradual reconstruction of social infrastructure is happening in the destroyed zones.”

Yesterday, the head of state said that Mozambique could see a gradual increase in gas production levels and exports to African countries by 2050.

Projections indicate that production will rise from four billion cubic metres per year (in 2021), to 83 billion cubic metres by 2050.

“By 2050, Mozambique could be the biggest producer and exporter of LNG, above countries in the maturity phase. In this sense, our positioning depends on the resumption of construction work on the onshore modules for Area 1 and the continuation of work on Area 4, onshore,” President Nyusi said.

O Presidente da República, Filipe Nyusi, anuncia o reforço de cordão de segurança militar no norte de Cabo Delgado, para permitir uma evolução satisfatória dos projectos de exploração de gás natural na Bacia do Rovuma, cuja primeira fase iniciou com a inauguração, esta quarta-feira, do empreendimento da Coral Sul FNLG.

Filipe Nyusi disse que tal visa assegurar as boas perspectivas do País, no que concerne a produção de tais níveis de gás a nível mundial.

“Formamos um cordão defensivo com a elevação da capacidade das Forças de Defesa e Segurança e com o apoio das forças amigas do Ruanda e da SADC nas zonas adjacentes ao distrito de Palma. Neste momento e de forma progressiva, a situação retorna à normalidade. A população tende a regressar e as autoridades locais estão estabelecidas. Nas zonas destruídas, procede-se a reconstrução gradual de infra-estruturas sociais” , disse.

Ainda hoje o Chefe de Estado disse que Moçambique poderá registar um crescimento gradual dos níveis de produção e exportação de gás para os países africanos até 2050.

Perspectivas apontam que o País sairá dos 4 biliões de metros cúbicos anuais, registados em 2021, para 83 biliões de metros cúbicos em 2050.

“Em 2050, Moçambique poderá ser o maior produtor e exportador de LNG acima de países na fase de maturidade. Neste sentido, o nosso posicionamento depende mito do reinício das obras de construção dos módulos em terra para a Área 1 e a prossecução dos trabalhos da Área 4, em terra “ , disse.
