Mozambique: President Chapo calls for community- led marine protection and environmental education

The Mozambican president, Filipe Nyusi, yesterday announced the passage to the reserve of Brigadier Elias Dhlakama, brother of former opposition leader Afonso Dhlakama, who died five months ago.
“On the proposal of the Minister of Defence” and “in response to the request” of the same brigadier, the decision was made yesterday “by presidential dispatch”, the statement the presidential palace in Maputo announces.
Elias Dhlakama had led the Command of Reserves of the Defence Forces of Mozambique since February 2015.

Afonso Dhlakama, the former president of the Mozambican National Resistance (Renamo), Mozambique’s main opposition party, died from ill-health at his base in the Gorongosa mountain range on May 3 of this year.
