The President of the World Bank Group, Ajay Banga, said yesterday in Washington that he is eager for more partnerships with the Mozambican government, emphasizing that the investments currently underway in the electricity sector have not only improved access to this service but also make the country a hub for supplying Southern Africa.
Speaking at the end of an audience granted by the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, in Washington, the World Bank manager acknowledged that investments in the energy sector are a step forward, but he emphasized that the government and the private sector still have much to do together, not only in electricity, but also in other areas.
Among the areas needing more investments, he highlighted tourism and infrastructure, where everything must be aligned to create jobs, mainly for young people. “Therefore, I congratulate the Mozambican President and his government for the work they are doing. I am eager for more partnerships,” highlighted Banga.
